Dodis is a research institute of the Swiss Academy of Humanities and Social Sciences SAGW and is therefore fully committed to Open Science. By installing the Metagrid-Plugin, you authorise it to access only pages within the network of connected websites, which are highly reputable institutions. Although we cannot imagine why you would want to, you can opt out of any connected websites during installation or at any time via the browser extension settings.
The plugin is not active on any websites other than the connected sites of trusted institutions. We do not analyse page content while you are browsing.
The plugin only reads the URL of the pages that you visit on the authorised websites, using this information to query our servers for similar resources. Upon first use, a randomly generated anonymous identifier is created and stored in your browser. This identifier contains no personal information and is sent to our servers when you visit connected websites, helping to prevent service misuse such as flooding attacks. The identifier also enables our feedback system, which allows you to rate suggested links with a “thumbs up” or “thumbs down”. Feedback is optional. If you provide it, it is stored with your anonymous identifier solely to improve your experience by avoiding repeat feedback requests and to improve the quality of the plugin’s responses.
We do not use this identifier to analyse individual user behaviour.
When using the plugin or our websites, we may collect anonymous technical data (IP address, date, time, browser information and operating system) that is necessary for technical operations. This data is not analysed and is not shared with third parties.
